About Me

Hi I'm Tricia.
I live in a lovely little cottage in a nice little village in beautiful North Yorkshire. I love my cosy, two-bed terrace overlooking the canal.

With views across the valley, livestock in the fields and then the hills beyond, it really is a beautiful location! And, as well as canal boats going by every day I regularly see visitors like these.......

and him!

And a pair of nesting swans nearby......

I retired a few years ago and I know it's a cliche but I really don't know how I had the time to work!! Retirement has certainly not caused me to slow down any! It just means that I get to spend more time doing the things I love most! Not earning money and living on a fixed income is a factor of course but most of the stuff I love to do doesn't cost anything anyway!

I have rediscovered my passion for handicrafts, crochet and knitting especially, although I also love counted cross stitch and often design and make my own cross stitch samplers. Yes, the eyesight is still good enough!! Living where I do has also rekindled my interest in taking photos - which you will be seeing plenty of in this blog! Thank goodness for digital cameras which have done away with the costs of developing films! I can take as many pics as I want now and it costs nothing!

Having found myself, at the age of 62, living alone in this little village where I knew no-one, I set about rebuilding my life pretty much from scratch. Four years later life is brilliant! I love my home in it's beautiful location, on the side of the Leeds-Liverpool canal, with uninterrupted views of fields and hills from my front windows. I love watching the canal boats going by every day. I have kept myself happily busy with lots of new activities added to old pursuits. I've made a number of good new friends too and ....... found myself a new man in the process! Clearly its never too late and we're never too old to start again!

Loving life, keeping active and making the most of every day is essential to me. So I have no problem with filling my time with crafting, swimming, hiking, tending my little 'garden' - a small flower bed at the back and lots of plants in pots at the front. I'm also an avid reader - never go anywhere without my Kindle! And I do a lot of voluntary work for one of my favourite charities, The Silver Line - and I still find time for socialising with friends, visiting family all over the country..... and dancing of course!! Whether dancing to live music on a night out, at a wedding etc or just dancing around my living room with my ipod turned up loud, dancing is a real passion of mine! I'm the one who starts off doing my best granny-style jigging at the back and then ends up doing the full disco diva bit at the front!!

And now I'm blogging! Well, we'll just see how this blogging comes along................
